2-day floating public art workshop registration extended to Monday 7 October
Northern Rivers Artist Pamela Denise is coming for Floating art workshop 12 and 13 October.
This workshop will help local artists build floating public art artworks using techniques of either mosaic on foam, steam punk or illuminated lanterns.
A multi-disciplined Visual Artist and Community Cultural Development artsworker based in the Northern Rivers NSW, Pamela Denise has completed over 150 public commissions and community art projects since 1998. Pamela regularly collaborates with people in regional areas.
ACT has also invited local artist Grace Dewar to demonstrate foam form carving.
The two-day workshop will be held on 12 and 13 October at the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE sculpture/ceramic studio. ACT invites Artists in the region interested in increasing their knowledge and skills of materials and fabrication techniques for floating public art to apply to participate. Cost will be $80. AGM on 14 October Pamela Denise will be that guest speaker at ACT’s AGM.
As well as talking about her work she will give feedback on ACT’s weekend workshop..
Arts Council Toowoomba (ACT)’s Toowoomba Waterways project builds on experience with Avant Garden and the Splashing back! Mosaic Flood Marker project.
ACT hopes to deliver installations of floating artworks in prominent places along East and West Creek to increase awareness of how water flows through our town and as an attractive addition for the 2014 Carnival of Flowers.
