Our mosaic workshop, held the last weekend of October, was a hugh sucess with 17 participants completing small sample panels. We were amazed and inspired by how the participants told of their experience of the flood and how quickly the energy from this was translated into artwork. ACT engaged an experienced public mosaic artist and tutor, Bev Ridsdill-Kenny, who has studied mosaic in Italy, Australia and the UK. She uses diverse media including metal, stone, granite, slate, marble, glass and ceramic and has significant public artworks in Brisbane and the Moreton Bay Region. Bev ran the workshop to increase our community’s capacity to produce permanent, high quality mosaic artworks that require minimum maintenance and will be able to be relocated if development changes the building.
